Job summary

True Anomaly seeks an Engineering Manager, Autonomy, to lead a team building multi-agent, edge-deployed autonomy software for spacecraft operations. You guide architecture, talent growth, and delivery against an autonomy roadmap spanning scheduling, replanning, and distributed coordination.

You will translate strategy into team objectives, drive continuous improvement, recruit top engineers, and balance near-term demonstrations with long-term capability development in a high-stakes space domain.

Qualifications

  • Master's or higher in a technical field; PhD or equivalent experience accepted.
  • 8+ years in autonomous systems or aerospace with at least 4 years in people management.
  • Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and execution skills.
  • Strong communication to influence senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction on multi-agent coordination and edge deployment architectures.
  • Review designs for optimization, planning, and distributed coordination.
  • Lead the team through design, implementation, and verification; ~35% time on code.
  • Define autonomy standards, validation approaches, and real-time performance trade-offs.
  • Drive compute allocation, edge optimization, and credibility in ops research & RL.
  • Track progress, risks, and blockers; report to leadership with demos in mind.
