Job summary

Fivetran is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Semantic Layer team in Bengaluru. You will own the health, delivery, and growth of the team behind MetricFlow, coaching engineers, setting technical direction, and ensuring shipping momentum.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll grow people, manage delivery processes, and stay close to code to make sound architectural calls. You’ll also steward a public open-source project and collaborate across the dbt ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management, with a track record of shipping production systems.
• Able to discuss architecture and tradeoffs credibly with senior engineers.
• Familiarity with analytical query engines, data warehouses, and related systems (planning, compilation, or transformation).
• Strong design sense: clean APIs, modularity, testability, and backwards compatibility.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for engineers, product managers, and external contributors.
• Experience leading in a distributed, asynchronous team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of software engineers building MetricFlow.
• Own delivery for the Semantic Layer team: planning, prioritization, and shipping high-quality software.
• Set technical direction across metric definitions, query compilation, and SQL generation for multiple data warehouses.
• Steward MetricFlow as an open-source project, triaging issues and releasing updates.
• Collaborate with leaders across the dbt platform to ensure seamless integration.
• Translate customer and community feedback into a well-sequenced roadmap.
• Drive engineering excellence in performance, reliability, and observability of metric queries.
• Promote a culture of design docs, thoughtful code review, and durable shipping.
