Job summary

DIAL is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its engineering function at the Addison, IL facility. You will oversee quoting through production, manage outside mold/die builders, and drive design for manufacturability while coordinating with customers and suppliers.

This is a high-visibility, transition role with a year to assume full ownership. You will guide program launches, APQP/PPAP activities, and cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, quality outcomes in a lean environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing, or a related engineering field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in injection molding (5–10 years considered).
• Deep knowledge of plastic part design, resin selection, and injection mold construction.
• Metal stamping and progressive die experience a strong plus.
• Experience managing outside tooling suppliers through build, trial, and approval.
• APQP, PPAP, and IATF 16949 knowledge; exposure to regulated/high-precision industries is a plus.
• Strong GD&T and print-reading skills; proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar).
• Go-to technical authority in a lean, fast-moving organization.
• Clear communicator with customers, suppliers, and shop-floor teams.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings and 3D models for manufacturability, tolerance, material and cost issues; resolve with customers.
• Lead RFQ feasibility reviews, estimate tooling and process requirements, flag pricing risk, build business case for capital investment.
• Manage outside mold/die builders from kickoff to sign-off, ensuring on-time, quality, cost targets.
• Represent Engineering for APQP/PPAP activities, PFMEAs, control plans, and submissions.
• Serve as primary engineering contact for customers, handle design changes and launches.
• Manage ECNs; keep drawings and specs current.
• Troubleshoot molding and stamping issues on production floor with operations and quality.
• Support continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
