Job summary

The Judge Group seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager for a large Sterling, IL facility. You will lead 4–5 direct report engineers to sustain and improve existing products and processes with emphasis on plant performance, process optimization, and assembly efficiency.

The ideal candidate has DFA/DFM experience, strong leadership, and a data-driven approach in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Proficiency in GD&T and 3D modeling is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering - Process or Mechanical, preferred.
• 7+ years of engineering experience in Manufacturing.
• 3+ years in a leadership role directing engineers.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Experience with plastic, stamped, and machined part design and manufacturing processes.
• 3D modeling experience.
• Leadership, team development, and delegation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop team capability, performance, and overall engineering effectiveness.
• Drive use of GD&T standards to improve design clarity, manufacturability, and inspection consistency.
• Promote DFM and DFA principles to reduce cost, complexity, and variation.
• Collaborate with New Product Development to support design reviews and launches.
• Support capital and tooling investments to meet quality and capacity requirements.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean) to reduce costs and downtime.
• Perform root cause analysis using statistics and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with Quality and Operations on product and process changes.
• Support development of FMEAs, Control Plans, and process capability improvements.

Job description

Our client is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager for thier large, Manufacturing facility located in the Sterling Il area. The Manager will lead a team fo 4-5 Direct Report Engineers to sustain & improve existing products & processes with a focus on plant performance, process optimization & assembly efficiency. This role leads the identification and resolution of product, process & design issues and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and an analytical approach towards problem solving to support a high-volume manufacturing plant. The ideal candaite will have a good technical proficiecny with Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and a decent understanding of GD&T

This job will have the following responsibilities:

• Develop team capability, performance, and overall engineering effectivenes
• Drive proper use of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to improve design clarity, manufacturability, and inspection consistency
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles in product and process improvements to reduce cost, complexity, and variation
• Collaborate with New Product Development teams to support design reviews and ensure smooth product launches
• Drive manufacturability, process stability, and product performance in highvolume productionSupport capital and tooling investments (equipment, molds, fixtures, etc.) to meet quality and capacity requirements
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing) to reduce costs, scraps, and downtime while improving quality and productivit
• Perform root cause analysis using statistical methods and implement corrective actions
• Partner with Quality and Operations on product and process changes
• Support development of FMEAs, Control Plans, and process capability improvements

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering - Process or Mechanical preferred
• 7+ years of engineering experience in Manufacturing
• 3+ years in a leadership position directing a team of Engineers
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
• Strong knowledge of plastic, stamped, and machined part design and manufacturing processes
• Experience with 3D modeling
• Demonstrated leadership, team development, and delegation skills
