Job summary

Pliant builds corporate payment infrastructure with a Platform Core team that delivers a cloud platform for other engineers. You’ll own the people side while shaping the roadmap for the platform’s future, overseeing a four-person team transitioning from ECS/Fargate to Kubernetes and embedding guardrails that support other teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, hiring and developing engineers, and ensuring security and observability scale as the platform grows, with remote flexibility

Qualifications

• 7–10 years in software or infrastructure engineering, with 3+ years managing engineers.
• Hands-on depth with Terraform, multi-account AWS, and container/serverless compute.
• Experience running infrastructure as an internal platform used daily by other teams.
• Proven hiring and engineering development track record.
• Datadog or equivalent observability experience at scale.
• Clear, confident cross-team communication.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools and rigorous review of AI-generated PRs.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap for Platform Core's Terraform infra, multi-account AWS, and IAM/networking foundations.
• Run Platform Core as an internal product with guardrails and compliance checks that help, not hinder, other teams.
• Collaborate with Security Engineering to bake access controls into the platform from the start.
• Steer the ECS/Fargate to Kubernetes migration through to completion.
• Hire, manage, and develop the team with regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
• Coordinate with future SRE and other platform teams as the org scales.
