Job summary

Caterpillar’s BCP division seeks an Engineering Manager in Clayton, NC to lead performance and integration across Mini Hydraulic Excavator products. You will drive controls development, software delivery, and systems integration while aligning with policies and business goals.

You will manage engineering teams, ensure project execution, and focus on quality, cost, and timely delivery within the product lifecycle. This role requires in-office presence five days a week in Clayton, NC.

Qualifications

• Planning: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of current and future customer needs within the product business strategy.
• Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment to effectively prioritize customer and business needs.
• Effective Communications: Ability to listen effectively, communicate clearly, interpret information accurately, and influence others through concise, audience-focused messaging.
• Technical Excellence: Ability to apply deep technical knowledge to solve complex engineering challenges and guide effective controls, software, performance, and systems integration solutions.
• Customer/Market Focus: Understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.
• Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to build and lead successful teams and address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Lead the MHE product performance and integration team responsible for machine controls development, software delivery, systems integration, and performance optimization across the product lifecycle.
• Lead the technology MGPP for MHE products in line with the advanced technology strategy.
• Apply technical expertise in controls development, machine performance, systems integration, and software development processes to guide engineering decisions and remove technical barriers.
• Lead validation and factory support for machine software.
• Own machine performance quality and customer acceptance from concept through end of lifecycle.
• Manage engineering staff and activities with an emphasis on achieving organizational goals, professional development, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor and continuously improve product and process performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness across engineering activities and deliverables.
• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
