Job summary

Caterpillar in Clayton, NC seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to improve processes and support NPIs in the plant. You will partner with operations to design tooling, set up SAP routings, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and throughput.

You will analyze current and future systems, lead engineering changes, and collaborate with suppliers to procure tooling and equipment. The role offers exposure to a global leader in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Engineering knowledge for manufacturing environments and processes.
• Lean manufacturing philosophy and implementation experience.
• Problem-solving skills to address operational challenges.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods, technologies, and processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Support execution of NPIs (new product introductions) programs.
• Set up and maintain production routings in SAP.
• Design and direct procurement of tooling and machines needed for production.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day process issues and implement improvements.
• Coordinate material procurement related to manufacturing improvements with external suppliers.
• Communicate and lead engineering change notices to production teams.
