Job summary

Upshop in Austin seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop engineering teams delivering high-quality, scalable software aligned with business goals. This permanent, full-time role reports to the VP of Software Engineering and balances people leadership with technical oversight.

You will design and build customer-facing features and backend services using C#, React, PHP, and cloud-native architectures, guide microservices, ensure code quality with GitHub and Azure DevOps, and

Qualifications

6+ years of professional experience across the full software development lifecycle.
Experience with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS/Bootstrap.
Proficiency with C#, PHP, Laravel Framework.
Experience with cloud-based, microservice-oriented systems.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release management.
Experience using observability tools such as DataDog.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage engineering teams responsible for delivering high-quality software.
Hire, onboard, train, and develop engineering talent; conduct performance reviews.
Set clear team goals aligned with department priorities.
Provide leadership, coaching, and motivation for accountability and delivery.
Collaborate with Product, QA, Customer Support, and Operations to translate requirements into solutions.
Ensure timely delivery, code quality, and production readiness.
