Job summary

Justworks is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers, blending hands-on coding with strong architectural oversight. You will coordinate projects, set priorities, and motivate the team to deliver features for customers.

A focus on mentoring, hiring, and building high-performing teams is essential. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and other functions to align strategy with execution while promoting technical excellence and a culture of learning.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production web applications.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience managing a team of engineers.
• Strong communication skills with ability to grasp and explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• High levels of empathy and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of core web development technologies, data structures and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize, schedule and ship new features with Engineers, Design, and Product Managers.
• Define and execute the team’s long-term strategy and quarterly roadmap.
• Communicate and coordinate with other teams to understand requirements and opportunities for improvement.
• Mentor engineers to grow technical skills and foster excellence.
• Lead technical decision-making and collaborate across teams.
