Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an engineering leader in San Francisco to oversee one of several software teams. You will manage 5–6 developers, own delivery, quality, and day-to-day priorities, and translate the roadmap into reliable software.

Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to scope, plan, and ship software. You will coach engineers, provide feedback, and help them grow, while championing CI/CD, code quality, and observability practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development management experience.
• Track record of leading teams that ship.
• Strong technical foundation in system design, computer science fundamentals, and modern web technologies.
• Experience with technical design, problem-solving, and project management.
• Jira experience preferred.
• Genuine interest in hiring, coaching, and developing engineers.
• Comfort partnering with Recruiting and other managers to hire and scale the organization.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead one of several engineering teams.
• Manage 5 to 6 developers and own delivery, quality, and day-to-day priorities.
• Turn the roadmap into shipped, reliable software.
• Partner with Product Managers and Designers to scope, plan, and deliver software.
• Coach and grow developers, helping them build skills, navigate difficult problems, and plan career steps.
• Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback.
• Champion CI/CD, code quality, and observability practices.
• Provide senior leadership with visibility into team impact, progress, and risks.
• Team placement based on background, interview results, and business openings.
