Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an engineering leader to own the design and delivery of our AI-driven infrastructure platform. You will manage end-to-end development for high-throughput batch and streaming systems, across 30+ regions, while mentoring engineers and shaping best practices.

You will drive technical decisions, collaborate on cross-functional projects, and contribute to tooling and OSS-like SDKs in a hybrid, US-based work environment with in-office days in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems or infrastructure platforms.
• Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, including distributed systems, memory management, and networking protocols.
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Go.
• Hands-on experience with, or desire to deep-dive into, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Kubernetes, or OLAP engines.
• Proven track record of taking 0-1 ownership of complex technical challenges from initial design to production stability.
• Intrinsic motivation to explore emerging technology in AI/ML infrastructure and real-time systems.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
• Must be able to meet hybrid work requirement with in-office attendance in San Francisco 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical decision-making and drive architecture for core infrastructure components.
• Develop and integrate AI-driven Knowledge Platform including scalable vector indexing and real-time streaming.
• Own the full SDLC for high-performance batch and streaming systems handling petabytes of data.
• Contribute to shared tooling, SDKs, and automation frameworks.
• Mentor mid-level engineers through reviews and technical guidance.
• Drive project delivery and advocate for rigorous software engineering practices.
