Job summary

TheGuarantors is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team of 4-6 engineers building landlord-facing products. You’ll guide architecture, review designs, and unblock the team while multiplying effectiveness through strong engineering practices.

Our stack includes TypeScript, React, Node.js, NestJS, Go, REST/GraphQL APIs, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS. Location-based hybrid role in NYC with ownership of renewals and landlord payment capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering, with leadership experience in a team.
• Hands-on fullstack experience (TypeScript, React, Node.js).
• Strong API design skills (REST/GraphQL) and database experience with PostgreSQL/Redis.
• Experience with AWS and building distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction across Landlord Portal and related flows.
• Raise engineering standards for reviews, testing, observability, and releases.
• Build a high-performing team and mentor engineers.
• Lead and develop engineers with clear feedback and growth support.
• Turn priorities into measurable delivery and manage roadmap tradeoffs.
• Own operational reliability including monitoring and on-call coverage.
• Coordinate changes across teams and keep leadership informed.
