Job summary

The City of Chicago is seeking an Engineering Manager for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in Chicago, IL. This on-site role leads a team of engineers and staff to plan, design, implement, and maintain ITS infrastructure across roadways and transit corridors, using data-driven methods to improve safety and mobility.

You will coordinate with city departments, external agencies, and vendors, prepare reports and budgets, mentor staff, and report project status to leadership and community

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation engineering, traffic operations, or ITS oversight of complex technology projects.
• Proficiency with ITS tools, central control software, sensors, networks, data analytics, and applicable standards.
• Strong project and people management skills, including leadership and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee, and optimize ITS infrastructure and projects across city roadways and transit corridors.
• Lead engineering and technical staff; coordinate with departments, agencies, and vendors.
• Prepare reports and budgets; manage contracts; mentor team members; communicate status to leadership and stakeholders.
