Job summary

City of Chicago's Department of Transportation, Division of Project Development, seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead traffic operations and safety, oversee major infrastructure projects, manage budgets, and supervise engineers and consultants.

Requires a Bachelor's (or higher) in Civil Engineering, 6+ years' experience with 4 in supervision, PE licensure in Illinois, and a valid Illinois driver's license. Location: 2 N LaSalle St, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus at least six (6) years of work experience in planning, design, and construction management, four (4) years in a supervisory role.
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus at least five (5) years of experience, four (4) years in a supervisory role.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (R.P.E.) in Illinois is required at the time of employment.
• Must have a State of Illinois driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead the traffic engineering section and manage major infrastructure projects.
• Oversee project and staffing contracts and prepare budgets.
• Supervise traffic engineering staff and consultants.
• Participate in citywide mega development projects and develop design policies.
