HighLevel Wisconsin is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our WhatsApp team driving large-scale integrations and a robust ecosystem that serves millions of businesses globally.

You will own architecture, billing, compliance, monitoring, and cross-functional leadership, balancing long-term vision with hands-on delivery, leveraging NestJS and modern data stacks to push throughput and reliability.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of backend engineering with 2+ years in leadership.
• Experience designing fault-tolerant systems at scale.
• Proven metering/billing or transactional domain experience.
• Strong distributed systems and event-driven architecture expertise.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data models.
• Familiarity with monitoring, SLOs, and RCAs.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect for massive scale: high-level architecture and scaling decisions for core Phone platform components.
• Own end-to-end billing: metering, rating, reserve/commit lifecycle, idempotency, reconciliation.
• Evolve trust and compliance systems to a rules-based platform.
• Hands-on with NestJS, Firestore, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, queues, data warehousing, and microservices.
• Drive high-concurrency improvements for reliability, latency, throughput.
• Improve observability and incident response with Prometheus/Grafana.
• Leverage AI tools to write, refactor, test, and debug code while guarding against hallucinations.
• Collaborate with product, infra, security, finance, and legal.
• Develop EM I leaders, build pipeline, succession planning, raise hiring bar.
• Participate in design reviews and on-call rotations.
