Job summary

Atlassian is seeking a senior engineering leader to join the Spark growth team in a role that combines people leadership with technical direction.

You will mentor engineers, build a high-performing culture, and partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit diverse talent while maintaining team capacity. You’ll own outcomes, optimize processes, and guide architecture for scalable, AI-enabled platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing software engineering teams.
• 2+ years of experience managing other engineering managers or leading teams of senior/principal engineers.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree (CS preferred).
• Strong background in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or developer tooling.
• Experience with applied AI/ML systems, LLMs, AI agents, MCP tooling, RAG, or AI evaluation frameworks.
• Demonstrated collaboration with product managers, TPMs, and designers to shape product and platform strategy.

• Lead and develop talent, mentoring engineers and shaping career growth.
• Foster an inclusive, high-performing culture with a focus on learning and feedback.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract and hire diverse engineering talent.
• Monitor team health, engagement, and operational sustainability.
• Own team outcomes and drive execution across top-of-funnel workstreams.
• Prioritize trade-offs between feature work, technical debt, reliability, and security.
• Establish agile practices to streamline execution and improve velocity.
• Provide technical direction and architecture to guide long-term strategy.
• Champion engineering excellence across code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
