Job summary

Nourish is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead Growth Activation. You’ll own the team responsible for matching patients to clinicians, driving engagement, retention, and reactivation through rapid product iterations and data-driven experiments.

You’ll collaborate with clinicians, design, data, and product to ship high-leverage features, scale the platform, and mentor a 4–5 engineer team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with modern full-stack technologies.
• 2+ years of hands-on engineering management experience.
• Experience hiring engineers and managing performance, promotions, and career development.
• Technical enough to pair program and contribute directly when needed.
• Strong product judgment: write PRDs, size opportunities, and critique designs.
• Proficiency with React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL or similar stacks.
• Shipped and owned production systems in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of 4–5 engineers with strong technical ownership.
• Coach engineers through regular feedback, career development, calibration, and performance management.
• Scale the team through recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
• Stay hands-on through architecture, pair programming, coding, code reviews, and on-call.
• Partner with product and design to write requirements, shape roadmaps, scope work, plan sprints, and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Drive decisions around system design, code quality, observability, reliability, and scalability.
• Establish team rituals including sprint planning, OKR planning, quarterly planning, and retrospectives.
• Operate with urgency in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Build a high-velocity experimentation culture with short iteration cycles and clear impact metrics.
• Improve patient–provider matching across goals, insurer constraints, outcomes, and business performance.
• Own lifecycle experiences from first appointment to reactivation, with seamless end-to-end journey.
