Job summary

Nourish is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead Growth Activation, reporting to the Director of Engineering. You will own the team responsible for helping new patients achieve long-term health goals—matching them with clinicians, driving engagement, and optimizing retention.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role requiring comfort with architecture, product direction, and rapid experimentation to scale impact. Must be based in North America or willing to relocate to SF/NYC.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with modern full-stack technologies.
• 2+ years of hands-on engineering management experience.
• Experience hiring engineers and managing performance.
• Able to pair program and contribute when needed.
• Strong product judgment: write PRDs and size opportunities.
• Proficient with React, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of 4–5 engineers with strong technical ownership.
• Coach engineers through regular feedback, career development, calibration, and performance management.
• Scale the team through recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
• Stay hands-on through architecture, pair programming, coding, code reviews, and on-call.
• Partner with product and design to write requirements and shape roadmaps.
• Drive decisions around system design, observability, reliability, and scalability.
• Establish team rituals like sprint planning, OKR planning and retrospectives.
• Operate with urgency in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Build a high-velocity experimentation culture with short iterations.
• Improve patient-provider matching across goals and constraints.
