Job summary

Scale AI’s Public Sector engineering team seeks an Engineering Manager for Frontier AI Infrastructure in Washington, DC. This hands-on leader will split time between writing/reviewing code and coaching a small team, owning the model inference layer, and driving technical decisions for secure, scalable backend systems.

You will lead hiring, set quarterly priorities, manage sprints and incidents, and collaborate with Product and Deployed Engineering to align with customer contracts and mission

Qualifications

Minimum 1–2 years direct people management experience (hiring, onboarding, performance).
Active Secret clearance; ability to up‑level to TS/SCI with CI Poly. Willingness to stay hands‑on in code.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and grow a team of engineers; own hiring and performance development.
Set technical direction and quarterly priorities for the inference layer; ensure delivery on contracts.
Run sprint planning, on‑call rotation, incident reviews, and postmortems.
