Job summary

Miter is hiring an Engineering Manager for Financials to build a greenfield, enterprise-focused financials platform on top of our payroll and HR system. You will lead a growing team of engineers, while hands-on contributing to the hardest parts of the system.

You will own delivery, setting the roadmap and quality bar, and work closely with the CEO and early customers to prioritize what to build and how to scale. Hybrid role, NYC/SF focus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering career at senior or staff level, now moving into or early in management.
• Experience taking 0→1 products or new product lines from scratch to shipped.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or payroll where details matter.
• Ability to design correctness-critical transactional systems at scale.
• Proven track record of attracting and mentoring engineers.
• Decisiveness under ambiguity and credibility with executives and demanding customers.
• Nice to have: vertical SaaS, construction/field-services, or workforce/payroll experience; AI tooling familiarity; good UX sense.

Responsibilities

• Build and hire the Financials team: grow the engineering team and lead hires, onboarding, coaching, and performance.
• Ship 0→1 financials products: translate from expenses to enterprise-ready financial systems.
• Stay hands-on as a player-coach: be among the strongest engineers solving hard problems.
• Own delivery and technical direction: set roadmap, architecture, and reliability standards.
• Partner with the CEO and early customers to uncover what to build as you build it.
• Move fast on a greenfield project while keeping long-term architecture sound.
