Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead calibration, simulation, testing and validation for electrification and autonomous vehicle controls. You will build and coach a high-performing team, define strategies, and ensure embedded software meets safety, quality, and program readiness standards.

You will collaborate across systems engineering, controls, and software to mitigate risks and deliver robust, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years in embedded control systems, calibration, simulation, validation, testing, or safety-critical development.
  • 3+ years in technical and/or people leadership; proven delivery.
  • Experience leading automotive, autonomous, or electrification projects.
  • Strong understanding of embedded controls, validation, and release processes.
  • Knowledge of vehicle architectures, diagnostics, and system integration.
  • Ability to identify risks, root-cause analysis, cross-functional resolution.
  • Proven record of leading in matrixed, fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and influence across boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop engineers in calibration, simulation (HIL/SIL), testing, validation, and release readiness.
  • Set goals and development plans aligned with program priorities.
  • Mentor engineers and drive technical leadership and GM behaviors.
  • Plan and manage activities and resources to support program deliverables.
  • Establish budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
  • Develop strategic actions to improve quality, efficiency, and delivery.
  • Drive innovation in processes, tooling, and standards.
  • Promote standardized engineering practices and safety-focused development.
  • Drive test automation, CI/CD integration, and data-driven decisions.
  • Ensure readiness artifacts and documentation are audit-ready.
