Job summary

Starbucks is seeking an Engineering Leader to drive reliability and operations for critical systems in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with product and platform teams to optimize build, release, and incident management, while guiding a growing engineering organization.

Ideal candidates bring 8–10 years in software or systems roles and 5+ years of leadership, with strong skills in cloud, monitoring, and security practices.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or infrastructure operations.
• 5+ years managing complex systems or application development projects.
• 3–5 years leading or managing technical teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering operations and reliability – Oversee system configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and support to ensure stability and performance.
• Enable development teams – Partner closely with engineers to resolve issues, improve workflows, and support build and release processes.
• Drive operational excellence – Lead Incident, Change, Release, and Problem Management practices while implementing monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Ensure secure and compliant systems – Deliver solutions aligned with security, architecture, and regulatory standards (e.g., PCI, SOX).
• Automate and scale – Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team – Coach and manage engineers, driving engagement, growth, and strong team performance.
• Collaborate across teams and vendors – Build strong cross-functional partnerships and manage external partners to achieve business outcomes.
