Job summary

HelloFresh is seeking an Engineering Manager for Data Privacy to lead a squad building consent management, DSAR handling, and data retention tooling. You will partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA) into a practical roadmap and stay technically engaged.

You'll guide hiring, code reviews, and capacity planning while promoting privacy-by-design across our global platforms and ensuring reliability and compliance in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Proven people-management experience leading a privacy/engineering team.
• Experience guiding distributed teams across locations.
• Deep background building scalable backend systems and privacy tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead a squad of data privacy engineers, including hiring and career growth.
• Own quarterly roadmap for data privacy aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Drive core privacy capabilities: consent management, DSAR handling, data retention, and PII discovery.
• Maintain operational health: SLAs, data deletion guarantees, audit trail reviews.
• Collaborate with Legal, Security and Compliance to embed privacy early in design.
• Represent privacy engineering in cross-tribe forums and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Mentor engineers and foster continuous improvement and HelloFresh DNA.
