Job summary
Pinterest is seeking a senior software engineering leader to drive media rendering and playback across our apps and web platforms. You will lead a cross-platform team, set technical direction, and partner with Media Transcoding, Performance, Data Science, Product and Infrastructure to enhance delivery and user experience.
The role requires 9+ years in software engineering, 5+ years in management, and a strong background in client performance, with AVFoundation/ExoPlayer experience beneficial.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with mobile and web
- 5+ years of engineering management leadership
- Strong background in media rendering, delivery, and client performance
- Experience with AVFoundation and ExoPlayer considered a plus
Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-platform team responsible for image rendering and video playback across Pinterest apps and web.
- Set the team’s technical direction and drive quality, performance, and reliability for media experiences.
- Collaborate with Media Transcoding, Performance, Data Science, Product and Infrastructure teams to enhance media delivery.
- Drive initiatives to reduce media load times and improve playback smoothness.
- Guide architectural decisions balancing product needs, investments, and maintainability.
- Build and grow a high-performing team through hiring and coaching engineers.
- Raise the bar on engineering excellence with solid release practices and testing.
