Job summary

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on computational materials development in an industrial setting.
• Experience with programming (Python preferred).
• Experience managing direct reports and projects.
• Familiarity with metallurgical manufacturing processes and materials characterization methods.
• Experience leading technical development projects and prioritizing multiple projects.
• Deep understanding of structure-property-processing relationships, thermodynamics, and kinetics.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and continuous improvement of an ICME framework for alloy development, process optimization, and scale-up.
• Develop process-structure-property models and databases to design next-generation magnets.
• Manage and develop a team of computational materials scientists and engineers; hiring, scheduling, evaluations.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and learning.
• Translate business objectives into actionable computational R&D activities.
• Communicate findings to engineers, technicians, and senior leadership.
• Lead interactions with universities and strategic research partners.
• Represent MP Materials in conferences and collaborations.
