Job summary

MP Materials in Fort Worth, TX seeks an experienced Manager to lead the Materials Characterization team within the Magnet Technology group. Oversee development, automation, and improvement of analytical methods for advanced magnet production, with experience in magnetometry, microscopy, XRD/XRF, and related techniques.

The role requires a Ph.D./M.S. in a relevant field and 5+ years in a materials lab, plus leadership experience and strong communication skills to guide chemists and engineers

Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, or Chemistry.
• 5+ years in a materials lab with diverse analytical methods and equipment.
• Experience managing direct reports and projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development and optimization of analytical techniques for instrumentation such as SEM, optical microscopy, metallography, DSC/TGA, XRD, XRF, magnetometry, ICP-OES, LECO, and more.
• Recruit, hire, and manage a team of chemists and engineers to develop analytical methods.
• Manage scheduling and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with process development and R&D teams to satisfy internal or customer needs.
• Develop automated data collection and reporting methods.
