Job summary

MP Materials in Fort Worth, TX, seeks an experienced Manager to lead the materials characterization team within the Magnet Technology group. You will oversee development, automation, and continuous improvement of analytical methods to support high‑performance rare earth magnet production.

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D./M.S. in a related field and 5+ years in a materials lab, with experience in SEM, XRD, XRF, EBSD, metallography, and DSC/TGA.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in a materials field with strong lab experience.
• Experience with SEM/EDS/EBSD and XRD/XRF techniques.
• Proven capability to develop, validate, and optimize analytics methods.
• Experience managing teams and projects in a lab setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development, validation, and optimization of analytical techniques.
• Recruit, hire, and manage chemists and engineers for advanced characterization.
• Lead preparation of technical reports and standard work instructions.
• Develop automated data collection, analysis, and reporting workflows.
• Ensure safety compliance and coordinate with EHS standards.
