Job summary

Normal Computing in Mountain View, CA seeks an Engineering Manager, Compiler & Runtime to lead the team building the compiler that maps PyTorch models to our hardware and the runtime that executes them.

You will hire, plan work against the hardware program, and partner with the senior compiler architect to set technical direction, with work done against simulators and FPGA prototypes before tapeout.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineers who build compilers, runtimes, or kernels for accelerators or non-standard hardware.
• Proven track record hiring and mentoring strong systems engineers.
• Ability to review designs and weigh technical trade-offs with senior engineers.
• Experience delivering software against a hardware schedule, from simulation through bring-up.

Responsibilities

• Grow the compiler and runtime team from its first engineers and set hiring bars.
• Turn the Systems Software roadmap into plans, milestones, and staffing for compiler, runtime, and kernels.
• Collaborate closely with the compiler architect on technical direction and trade-offs.
• Coordinate with hardware, drivers, firmware, and simulation teams to ensure alignment.
• Keep the compiler/runtime working across simulators, FPGA prototypes, and silicon as the hardware matures.
• Establish testing, release, and review practices to ship robust software.
