Job summary

Remitly, Inc. in Arlington, VA, is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Card team to lead end-to-end features, backend services, and card issuance operations.

You will shape engineering culture in a hybrid office and work to advance trustworthy financial services. You have 10+ years in software engineering, 3+ years in leadership, and experience with Go, Kotlin, Java, or TypeScript, AWS, and AI-enabled tooling.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams delivering full-stack/backend projects.
• Expertise in Go, Kotlin, Java or TypeScript with adaptability to new languages.
• Experience designing secure, scalable software on AWS.
• Aptitude for applying AI to developer productivity and product features.
• Coaching developers through mentoring, reviews and retrospectives.
• Strong partnering with product/design to drive customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship the Card team's consumer-facing experiences and backend services.
• Partner with product and design to prioritize the roadmap and OKRs.
• Hire and grow the engineering team, recruiting and onboarding engineers.
• Mentor engineers in technical skills, autonomy, communication, and collaboration.
• Ensure security, quality, and operational excellence across the team.
• Champion safe AI tool adoption to boost productivity and velocity.
• Represent the team in cross-functional planning with Product, Design, Analytics, and partner teams.
