Spellbook is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a small team building AI products for legal professionals inside a fast‑moving environment. You will set direction, stay closely involved in architecture and implementation, and drive impact through clear decisions and pragmatic engineering.

You will mentor engineers, balance speed with reliability, and shape how coding agents and automation improve our software development. This role emphasizes technical leadership over process.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with technical leadership in startup/scale‑up.
• Strong system design and web development skills (JS/TS, React, Node, AWS).
• Experience leading production software.
• Regular use of coding agents or AI tools with concrete improvements.
• Ability to prototype, review code, and make pragmatic architecture decisions.
• Strong product judgment and ability to ship in ambiguous problems.

Responsibilities
