Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking an Software Engineering Manager in the United States to lead an AI-first engineering team. You will partner with content teams to automate workflows and drive end-to-end delivery across onshore and offshore squads.

Responsibilities include coaching engineers, propelling GenAI initiatives, and collaborating with Product Managers to align engineering with business goals while managing backlogs and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of technology leadership with globally distributed teams.
• Solid understanding of AI concepts, including ML, LangChain, RAG, vector databases.
• Hands-on GenAI tool experience (e.g., coding assistants, OpenAI Codex).
• Experience designing APIs and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end automation initiatives with onshore and offshore teams.
• Partner with content teams to analyze workflows and design AI-first solutions.
• Drive development of AI-powered tools through prototyping and improvements.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and partners to deliver scalable solutions.
• Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
• Balance technical debt with new feature development within sprints.
• Manage product backlogs, estimates, and budgets with stakeholders.
