Job summary

SIXT is a global mobility leader seeking a senior engineering leader to own Strategic Fleet Planning end-to-end in Portugal, partnering with Product and Data Science to ship high-impact software that guides how SIXT buys and deploys vehicles.

You will mentor a colocated Portugal team, push for full-stack ownership, and champion AI adoption across cross-functional projects, ensuring outcomes drive technical choices.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of building, leading, and growing software engineering teams beyond CRUD apps.
• Hands-on production experience in Java or Golang on AWS.
• Ability to run AI-assisted engineering workflows and assess AI-generated output for engineering judgment.
• Experience pushing backend engineers toward full-stack ownership and UI familiarity.
• Strong communication with both engineers and business stakeholders.
• Comfort collaborating with distributed or remote teams across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of Strategic Fleet Planning end-to-end, partnering with Product, Data Science, and Business stakeholders.
• Lead and grow a colocated engineering team in Portugal, coaching engineers toward ownership and outcomes.
• Take on rotating cross-cutting projects across SIXT's tech stack as priorities shift.
• Collaborate with peer EMs on AI adoption and security initiatives as a group.
• Act as a true product partner by owning backlog and understanding business impact of shipped work.
• Deliver results even when roadmaps shift, maintaining alignment between IT and business.
