About the Role
This is an Engineering Manager role on the Agent Engineering team, responsible for leading engineers who build and ship production-grade AI agents that handle complex customer interactions at scale. The team sits at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and real enterprise impact, deploying mission-critical agents that serve millions of end users across industries including finance, healthcare, and hospitality.
What You'll Do
- Lead and grow a team of engineers building AI agents designed to outperform human agents on complex support and retention workflows.
- Partner directly with enterprise customers to understand operational pain points and translate them into scalable AI agent solutions.
- Drive execution across the full agent deployment lifecycle, from initial implementation through continuous iteration and optimization.
- Collaborate with product, design, and research to identify cross-customer trends that shape the evolution of the agent platform.
- Help define technical strategy and roadmap for AI-powered customer support.
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, feedback, and career development.
- Maintain a high engineering bar while fostering a culture of ownership, velocity, and customer focus.
What We're Looking For
- 1+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of 3 to 8 engineers on customer-facing products.
- 5+ years of industry software engineering experience, with a strong backend or product engineering background and hands-on technical contribution.
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming patterns.
- Experience leading teams building complex distributed systems or customer-facing products.
- Comfort diving into system failures across deep technology stacks using any available tooling.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly and effectively with enterprise customers.
- Background from a high-growth, talent-dense startup or a quantitative firm is a strong plus.
- Experience with LLMs, agentic workflows, or multi-modal models is a meaningful advantage.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $300,000 to $360,000 USD annually. Equity included. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Location
On-site in San Francisco, California, USA. This is not a remote role.
