Job summary

Stripe is seeking an Engineering Manager for Abuse Control Engineering to lead a fast-response team addressing cross-product abuse gaps and incubating controls for long-term ownership. • Strong background in software/security engineering or anti-abuse.
• Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction: Define and communicate the team’s strategy and priorities for identifying cross-product abuse gaps, incubating controls, and preventing recurrence of threats.
• Lead and develop the team: Hire, manage, coach, and support engineers; provide clear expectations and feedback; create growth opportunities.
• Guide evidence-based decisions: Use attacker evidence, product context, and measurable outcomes.
• Drive secure control design: Partner with security and product engineering to develop resilient safeguards.
• Oversee experimentation: Guide experiments to assess risk reduction and impact on user conversion.
• Build durable defenses: Develop regression tests and mechanisms to detect recurrence of abuse patterns.
• Manage control incubation: Establish success measures, documentation, handoff criteria, and timelines.
• Complete ownership handoffs: Transfer controls to product teams with clear ownership.
