Job summary

Stripe is seeking a senior leader to head the Abuse Research Group, guiding threat intelligence, fraud research, and detection engineering. You will scale the team, set strategies, and act as a technical advisor on complex investigations.

In this role you will collaborate with Risk, Trust & Safety, Fraud Platform, and Security Engineering to translate abuse research into platform protections and drive impactful, proactive defenses at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading security engineering or research teams.
• Experience recruiting, growing, and leading technical teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for leadership.
• Familiarity with fraud and abuse patterns in payments/fintech.
• Hands-on threat intelligence tradecraft with structured frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and retain a team of analysts and engineers.
• Set and execute research agenda across threat tracking and investigations.
• Provide depth on complex investigations including account compromise campaigns.
• Operationalize research into production detection rules and automated responses.
• Collaborate with Risk, Safety, Fraud Platform, and Security Engineering.
