JustMarkets is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and scale multiple cross-functional teams across backend, frontend, and infrastructure within a hybrid cloud environment. You will mentor leaders, own delivery excellence, and set technical direction.

You will guide work in Deposits/Payouts, Identity/KYC, or Core Ledger areas, drive roadmaps with Product and Senior leadership, plan headcount, manage budgets, and promote a culture of ownership and accountability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering with strong backend background and Ruby experience
• 3+ years as an Engineering Manager, leading Team Leads or Engineering Managers
• Proven experience leading an engineering organization of 20+ engineers across multiple teams
• Experience in headcount planning, team structure design, and budget management
• Background in financial systems, trading platforms, or high-reliability domains
• Solid understanding of AWS, on-premise and hybrid infrastructure, CI/CD, deployment strategies and observability tools

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale multiple cross-functional engineering teams (backend, frontend, infrastructure, mobile) through Team Leads and Engineering Managers, growing the area to up to 40 engineers
• Own delivery, quality, and technical outcomes across your area and drive cross-team initiatives
• Shape the area roadmap with Product, Trading, and Senior Engineering leadership
• Drive engineering processes across teams (planning, estimation, CI/CD, code reviews, testing, releases)
• Ensure high availability and observability of systems on hybrid infrastructure while balancing technical debt
• Hire, mentor, and grow Team Leads and Engineering Managers and manage promotions
• Plan headcount 1–2 years ahead, design team structure, manage area budget
• Foster ownership, customer focus, and result orientation

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and scale one of the key engineering areas of our platform. You will lead several cross-functional teams through Team Leads and Engineering Managers and be responsible for people leadership, delivery excellence, and technical direction across a hybrid infrastructure.

Depending on your background, you will lead one of three areas: Deposits and Payouts, which moves client funds in fiat and crypto from deposit to withdrawal; Identity and KYC, which takes clients from registration to full verification; or Core Ledger, Treasury and Custody, which keeps every balance accurate and protects client and company assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale multiple cross-functional engineering teams (backend, frontend, infrastructure, mobile) through Team Leads and Engineering Managers, growing the area to up to 40 engineers
• Own delivery, quality, and technical outcomes across your area, including cross-team initiatives and dependencies
• Partner with Product, Trading, and Senior Engineering leadership to shape the area roadmap and translate business requirements into technical execution
• Drive engineering processes across teams, including planning, estimation, CI/CD, code reviews, testing, and release management
• Ensure technical alignment, high availability, and observability of systems running on hybrid infrastructure, while balancing technical debt with delivery velocity
• Hire, mentor, and grow Team Leads and Engineering Managers, run performance calibration, and own promotion decisions
• Plan headcount 1 to 2 years ahead, design team structure, and manage the area budget
• Foster a culture of ownership, customer focus, and result orientation

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend background, ideally including hands-on Ruby
• At least 3 years of experience as an Engineering Manager, including managing Team Leads or Engineering Managers
• Proven experience leading an engineering organisation of at least 20 engineers across several teams
• Proven experience in headcount planning, team structure design, and budget management
• Background in financial systems, trading platforms, or other high-reliability domains
• Solid understanding of AWS, on-premise and hybrid infrastructure, CI/CD, deployment strategies, and observability tools

Will be a plus

• Experience building new teams from scratch and scaling an engineering organisation from one team to several
• Experience with low-latency or high-throughput systems
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools
