Job summary

Fanatics Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead teams building scalable backend services and APIs in a fast-paced environment. You will guide architecture, drive delivery, and work with product and frontend teams to ship high-performance software that powers customer experiences.

You will own on-call rotations, champion code quality, and mentor engineers while advancing tech direction and implementing DevOps practices. Occasional travel to NYC-area sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong experience with backend systems development, including experience with Java (Spring Framework preferred).
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
  • Proven experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, including data modeling, indexing, and caching strategies.
  • Extensive experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies and leading cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact features.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience leading and motivating teams to success.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, or professional certification, or a combination of education and experience

  • Be open to occasional travel for team-building, collaboration, and industry events.

Job description

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and guide teams in the design, development, and maintenance of backend systems that drive seamless customer experiences.   • Familiarity with CI/CD practices, cloud platforms, or DevOps workflows.
  • Previous experience working in scaling or startup-like environments, ideally in a complex and high-demand industry.

The expected salary range for this role is based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is eligible for the Fanatics Betting and Gaming annual bonus program and an equity award. *Salary range is listed in USD; actual salary will vary based on location. *Salary Range: $144,000 - $230,000 per year (actual salary will be determined in part by a successful candidate’s geographic location). In addition to base salary, bonus, and equity, full-time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, paid time off, and other benefits like GymPass, Pet Insurance, Family Care Benefits, and more.

Depending on the role, your interview and onboarding experience may include in-person components, such as onsite interviews or Launching into Better: LIVE—a multi-day cultural immersion in New York City for full-time, non-seasonal hires.
