Job summary

Payentry is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a development team, drive technical strategy, and mentor engineers. You will supervise code quality, participate in reviews, and contribute to the hands-on work when required.

You will own hiring, performance reviews, and compensation discussions while prioritizing delivery timelines and technical excellence within a SaaS/payroll context.

Qualifications

• Proven experience (3+ years) as an Engineering Manager or senior technical lead with direct people-management responsibility.
• Strong technical background; able to engage in code reviews and hands-on coding when needed.
• Experience owning hiring, compensation, and performance review processes; proven mentorship skills.
• Excellent communication and mentorship skills, with a track record of developing engineers' careers.
• Strong judgment balancing technical rigor with team growth and delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and people leadership to software and quality engineers across experience levels.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews to support growth and unblock blockers.
• Own the hiring process for the team, including sourcing, interviewing, and closing candidates.
• Drive capacity planning and structure to scale teams with business needs.
• Review code and contribute technically to keep standards high.

Technical Leadership
