Job summary

Tindall Corporation seeks an experienced engineering leader to drive design, analysis, and project execution for precast concrete structures. This role requires strong technical judgment and cross-functional collaboration with project teams and field operations.

You will review drawings, mentor staff, manage budgets, and lead continuous improvement while ensuring safety and quality. PE license required; BS/MS in Engineering with 10+ years in concrete development preferred.

Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer is required.
  • BS Degree in Engineering or MS Degree (MS in Engineering or MS in Business with BS in Engineering).
  • 10+ years of related experience; concrete industry experience preferred.
  • 3+ years supervisory experience; 5+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety and quality rules to ensure a safe workplace and high-quality products.
  • Delegate and monitor project assignments among department personnel.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers and architects to meet project requirements and schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance to staff engineers and designers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
  • Delegate and monitor project assignments among department personnel.
  • Continuously evaluate production/engineering schedule demands. Assign duties, accordingly, including procurement of outside engineering sources.
  • Meet with contractors, engineers, architects to ensure understanding of project requirements and schedule demands.
  • Provide technical guidance to staff engineers and designers.
  • Offer technical assistance to sales staff. This typically involves evaluation of Tindall products and their applicability to prospective projects, or modification of a prospective project to allow incorporation of precast concrete products. This may include face-to-face meetings with the pre-construction design team.
  • Respond to field and production problems as appropriate via investigations, analyses, or repair design.
  • Evaluate department manpower needs and solicit new hires as needed. Make recommendations regarding personnel terminations when necessary.
  • Work with production personnel and Industrial Engineering to develop new products and processes.
  • Monitor overall performance of department to assure effective presence in Tindall manufacturing process.
  • Review calculations and drawings prepared by department personnel and outside contractors for conformance to appropriate codes and Tindall standard practice.
  • Affix seal on drawings and calculations done in-house which have been supervised by the engineering manager.
  • Ensure appropriate level of engineering input in project planning and progress meetings, both internal and external.
  • Lead Quality Improvement Process within department while assuring effective employee participation.
  • Ensure that field inspections are conducted by competent personnel with required frequency.
  • Perform structural analysis and occasional member design on contracted and/or prospective projects.
  • Monitor department revenue and costs. Process all department invoices and monthly billings.
  • Develop and monitor department budgets.
  • Member of the Corporate Engineering Standards Committee, taking part in continual evaluation of company design and detail standards.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development of all department personnel. Evaluate staff salaries and offer recommendations for periodic adjustments.
  • Work closely with Q.C. Manager to assess staff needs and development.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Drive and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be an exceptionally strong communicator both written and verbal.
  • Possess strong engineering judgement and be able to provide recommendations despite uncertainty.
  • Ability to build trust and relationships with other departments within the company including Project Management, Production, Estimating, and Field Operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precise technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Job Specifications or Qualifications
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registration: Registration as a PE Required.
  • Education: BS Degree in Engineering or MS Degree (MS in Engineering or MS in Business with BS in Engineering).
  • Experience: 10 (+) years of related experience is required. Concrete Industry experience highly preferred.
  • Supervisory Experience: 3 (+) years of Supervisory experience is required. 5 (+) years preferred.
