We partner with American manufacturers to deliver automation, robotics, fabrication, and engineering solutions that improve productivity, enhance safety, and create measurable, lasting customer impact.

I2T is entering an important stage of growth. The Engineering Manager will help shape our people, engineering culture, project performance, technical capabilities, and future organization.

Position Summary

The Engineering Manager leads I2T's multidisciplinary engineering organization and ensures successful execution of customer projects. This leader will develop engineers and future technical leaders, improve project predictability, strengthen cross-functional execution, and build the capacity and processes needed for continued growth. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering judgment, practical people leadership, and a builder's mindset.

Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning robotics, controls and software, mechanical design, electrical design, and machine vision.
  • Build a culture of partnership, ownership, problem solving, reliability, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear expectations and develop engineers and Technical Leads through coaching, feedback, mentoring, recruiting, and professional development.
  • Help define the future structure, roles, responsibilities, and leadership model of the engineering organization.
Project Execution
  • Own the effectiveness and predictability of engineering execution across I2T's project portfolio.
  • Coordinate priorities, staffing, workload, and capacity across disciplines and projects.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Technical Leads to establish plans, review progress, identify risks, and resolve technical or resource issues.
  • Ensure engineering work supports scope, quality, schedule, budget, safety, customer commitments, and measurable customer impact.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to evaluate opportunities, define technical approaches, support proposals, and align capabilities with market needs.
  • Coordinate with Fabrication, Assembly, Procurement, and Operations to improve manufacturability, build readiness, and issue resolution.
  • Work with customers, vendors, and company leadership to resolve escalated issues and support successful project outcomes.
  • Establish practical engineering standards, design reviews, documentation expectations, risk-assessment practices, and reusable methods.
  • Build the engineering capacity, capabilities, processes, tools, and leadership depth needed to support I2T's growth.
  • Use project results, operational metrics, lessons learned, and team feedback to improve engineering performance and predictability.
Success in the First 12 Months
  • Strengthen engineering accountability, planning, execution, and visibility into project and resource risks.
  • Establish regular coaching and meaningful development plans for engineers and emerging technical leaders.
  • Improve collaboration across Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Fabrication, and Operations.
  • Create a practical plan for the capacity, capabilities, standards, and leadership needed to support I2T's continued growth.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 10 years of progressive experience in engineering, industrial automation, robotics, custom machinery, manufacturing systems, or a related project-based environment.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, complex projects, or major technical workstreams.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing engineering projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, empower, and respectfully hold technical professionals accountable.
  • Strong project-execution, resource-planning, risk-management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance technical decisions with customer needs, safety, schedule, cost, quality, reliability, and business priorities.
Preferred
  • Leadership experience within a system integrator, custom automation company, machine builder, engineering services firm, or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing Technical Leaders and improving engineering capacity, estimating, standards, quality, or project predictability.
  • Broad familiarity with robotics, PLC and SCADA systems, mechanical and electrical design, machine vision, fabrication, and machine safety.
  • Experience supporting proposals, technical sales, organizational growth, commissioning, and resolution of escalated field issues.
What Makes Someone Successful at I2T
  • Leads through trust, clarity, consistency, and accountability.
  • Develops people rather than simply assigning work.
  • Takes ownership, addresses problems early, and follows through on commitments.
  • Builds practical processes that improve performance without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Balances technical excellence with customer and business outcomes.
  • Wants to build an organization, develop future leaders, and leave the company stronger.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in office, engineering, fabrication, and industrial manufacturing environments. Periodic travel and occasional work outside standard business hours may be required for customer meetings, project reviews, commissioning support, critical milestones, or escalations. All company and customer safety requirements, including appropriate PPE, must be followed.

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid time off and company holidays; life and disability insurance.
