Position Summary

The Automation & Robotics Engineer develops, integrates, commissions, and supports robotic automation systems for industrial customers. This position requires a hands-on problem solver who can program robots, collaborate across engineering disciplines, and carry technical work from concept through startup. The role is designed for an engineer with 0–5 years of experience who wants to build expertise, take increasing ownership, and deliver reliable solutions that improve customer operations.

Responsibilities
Robotics Engineering
  • Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot industrial robot programs.
  • Integrate robots with end-of-arm tooling, machine vision, controls, safety systems, and peripheral equipment.
  • Evaluate robot reach, payload, motion, cycle time, mounting, and cable‑routing requirements.
  • Apply robotics best practices to improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
System Integration & Project Execution
  • Collaborate with Controls & Software, Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, and Vision Engineers to develop complete automation systems.
  • Participate in design reviews and identify technical risks, integration requirements, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support project planning, task estimating, documentation, and schedule commitments.
  • Work with vendors to evaluate robotic hardware, tooling interfaces, and application requirements.
Safety, Commissioning & Customer Support
  • Participate in machine‑safety risk assessments and incorporate risk‑reduction measures into robot programming and system operation.
  • Commission robotic systems and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Troubleshoot systems during startup and production ramp‑up.
  • Work directly with customers to clarify requirements, provide training, and resolve technical issues.
Success in the First 12 Months
  • Demonstrate reliable robot programming, troubleshooting, and documentation practices.
  • Complete assigned engineering work on schedule while meeting technical and customer requirements.
  • Contribute effectively to system integration, commissioning, and customer startup activities.
  • Build working knowledge of I2T standards, safety practices, and multidisciplinary project execution.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 0–5 years of experience in robotics, automation, controls, or manufacturing systems.
  • Robot programming experience gained through employment, internships, co‑ops, training, or academic projects.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaborative problem‑solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customer facilities for commissioning and support.
Preferred
  • FANUC programming experience, including RoboGuide, HandlingTool, ArcTool, PalletTool, or iRVision.
  • Experience with other industrial robot platforms, PLCs, machine vision, safety systems, or industrial networks.
  • Exposure to custom machinery, system integration, manufacturing processes, or customer‑facing projects.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in office, engineering, fabrication, and industrial manufacturing environments. Periodic travel and occasional work outside standard business hours may be required for customer meetings, project reviews, commissioning support, critical milestones, or escalations. All company and customer safety requirements, including appropriate PPE, must be followed.
