Job Details: Job Location: Star Island Management - Kissimmee, FL 34746, JOB PURPOSE
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department. Directs the engineering/maintenance operations of the resort to ensure the safety and comfort of guests, employees and to ensure compliance with all company standards, federal, state, and/or local regulatory and inspection requirements. This position is a working manager hands on within the engineering department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- The Engineer Manager manages the maintenance and repair of the hotel buildings, grounds and contents in a cost-effective manner, ensuring the efficient and safe operations
- Schedules, hires, trains, evaluates, reviews and assists in improving employee performance
- Ensure the resort is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws
- Develop and implement plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds and other assets in a safe and acceptable state of repair
- Create and implement preventative maintenance program for all resort units, exteriors buildings and public areas
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
- Inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets
- Plan and organize work, communicate goals, and schedule employees to ensure proper coverage
- Conduct room inspections, and identify repair needs
- Manage and coordinate bids, quotes and contracts for 3rd party vendors
- May assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or higher-level education or equivalent in experience
- Service oriented style with professional presentation and communication skills
- Experience managing/leading a crew of 10 or more employees
- Some basic computer knowledge, Microsoft, Excel etc.
- Valid driver license, certifications, and reliable transportation required
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, roofs, building finishes, mechanical operations, energy management, preventative maintenance programs and general maintenance skills
- Additionally, this position requires strong leadership skills, and a willingness to work different shifts as the demands of business dictates
