Job summary

Ross Staffing, LLC is recruiting an experienced engineering leader for a Tier 1 automotive manufacturer's Erie, PA facility. The role oversees engineering, technical services, capital projects, manufacturing technology, and continuous improvement for a 300-employee operation.

The ideal candidate will drive modernization of processes, build a high-performing engineering team, and influence plant performance through hands-on leadership and strategic execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in manufacturing.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and technical support personnel.
  • Strong CAPEX planning, project management, and Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
  • Experience with CNC machining, forging, or roll forming.
  • Familiarity with automation, robotics, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Experience supporting ISO/IATF quality systems.
  • Previous experience in a union manufacturing environment.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the plant engineering and technical services functions.
  • Develop and execute the facility’s annual CAPEX strategy.
  • Identify and implement projects to improve productivity, quality, cost, cycle time, and waste.
  • Evaluate and advance manufacturing equipment, automation, robotics, CNC machinery, PLC controls, and material handling systems.
  • Support new product development and commercialization.
  • Strengthen Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop engineering and technical personnel.
  • Partner with plant operations, maintenance, corporate engineering, quality, safety, and environmental teams.
  • Serve as an active member of the plant leadership team.

Job description

Ross Staffing has been retained by a prominent Tier 1 automotive manufacturer to recruit an experienced Engineering leader for its Erie, PA facility.

This is a key plant leadership position responsible for engineering, technical services, capital projects, manufacturing technology, and continuous improvement within a complex operation of approximately 300 employees. The person selected will have a meaningful opportunity to modernize manufacturing processes, develop the engineering team, and directly influence plant performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the plant engineering and technical services functions
  • Develop and execute the facility’s annual CAPEX strategy
  • Identify and implement projects that improve productivity, quality, cost, cycle time, and waste
  • Evaluate and advance manufacturing equipment, automation, robotics, CNC machinery, PLC controls, and material handling systems
  • Support new product development and commercialization
  • Strengthen Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop engineering and technical personnel
  • Partner closely with plant operations, maintenance, corporate engineering, quality, safety, and environmental teams
  • Serve as an active member of the plant leadership team
Ideal Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Experience leading engineering teams and technical support personnel
  • Strong knowledge of CAPEX planning, project management, and Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience with CNC machining, forging, or roll forming
  • Familiarity with automation, robotics, and PLC-controlled equipment
  • Experience supporting ISO or IATF quality systems
  • Previous experience in a union manufacturing environment
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Metallurgical experience is a plus
