Job summary

CMC is seeking a seasoned engineer to plan and coordinate construction projects for facilities and equipment across our steel products operations. You will evaluate alternatives, justify improvements, and ensure compatibility with current processes while driving efficiency and budget adherence.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, five years of layout or design experience, and occasional travel. Proficiency in CAD/Project tools and SAP PS is preferred, with strong teamwork across sites

Qualifications

  • Five years' experience in equipment and/or facilities layout, basic process design, material handling design, or related field.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, AutoCAD (Inventor and 3D modeling are a plus), Adept, SAP PS and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate new facilities and equipment construction projects, process and system modifications, and improvements.
  • Evaluate alternatives and provide economic justification for selected improvements.
  • Analyze proposed installations of new facilities and/or equipment.
  • Ensure compatibility with existing operations and maximize efficiency.
  • Design and/or supervise and coordinate detailed engineering for new construction and process modifications.
  • Develop construction specs, bid packages, budgets, schedules, permitting as required to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate planning, construction, and test work with operations personnel as applicable.
  • Identify areas for improvement or cost reduction in existing processing or material handling methods.
  • Coordinate, manage and report annual Capital Expenditure portfolio of projects.
  • Act as project manager for special R&D type projects involving new processes or products.
  • Provide technical support to production and maintenance on a local level for projects.
  • Develop and manage permitting and engineering documentation archiving.

What You'll Do

  • Identify areas for improvement or cost reduction in existing processing or material handling methods
  • Coordinate, manage and report annual Capital Expenditure portfolio of projects
  • Act as project manager for special research and development type projects involving new processes or products
  • Provide technical support to production and maintenance on an as needed basis for projects implemented on the local level
  • Develop and manage permitting and engineering documentation archiving
What You'll Need
  • Five years' experience in equipment and/or facilities layout, basic process design, material handling design, or related field
  • Must be willing and able to occasionally travel for short periods of time
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Auto-CAD (Inventor and 3D modeling are a plus), Adept, SAP PS and Microsoft Project
Your Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
