Job summary

BrainWorks Search partners with a leading automotive manufacturer near Detroit to hire an Engineering Manager who will lead the engineering team on site, providing technical and people leadership in a fast-paced die-casting environment.

You will mentor Manufacturing Engineers and Program Management resources, drive continuous improvement, and partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality and Tooling to address production challenges and launch new programs.

Qualifications

• Significant engineering experience within automotive manufacturing.
• Die-casting experience required.
• Previous engineering leadership with a demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and develop teams.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation, and plant-floor operations.
• Experience supporting quoting, capacity planning, job justification, and new business/program launches.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team that includes Manufacturing Engineers and Program Management resources.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across manufacturing operations.
• Coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent while building a strong, accountable team.
• Drive manufacturing performance, equipment reliability, continuous improvement, and problem resolution.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Tooling, and other functions to address production challenges.
• Support quoting activities, job justification, capacity analysis, and planning for new and existing business.
• Evaluate manufacturing requirements for new programs and support successful program launches.
• Drive root-cause problem solving and long-term corrective actions for recurring manufacturing issues.
• Support improvements in plant efficiency, equipment performance, quality, and OEE.
• Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and provide technical guidance to the engineering organization.

Compensation

• Base salary: $120,000–$150,000 + bonus
• 100% company paid employee benefits
