Job summary

Morton Salt, Inc. seeks an Operations Engineer for its 12‑month Operations Rotation Program, rotating through production, mill, maintenance and shipping in multiple U.S. sites including Hutchinson, KS.

Engineers will be mentored by senior staff and gain leadership, safety, and technical skills in a manufacturing setting. You will participate in three to four rotations, report to site leadership, and present learnings after each rotation.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with GPA 3.0 or higher required.
• 0-2 years’ engineering experience preferred.
• Relocation to assigned site required during and after program.
• Solid grounding in engineering principles for manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and revise processes to improve safety, quality and efficiency, and generate cost savings.
• Develop new processes by researching technologies, evaluating safety, quality and cost.
• Apply engineering understanding in hands-on troubleshooting and collaboration.
• Identify and solve process/equipment issues and coordinate maintenance and production resources.
• Use mechanical, manufacturing, systems and industrial engineering knowledge to optimize processes.
• Design and implement proposals to improve plant performance and equipment design.
• Prepare budgets for capital projects with scope, estimates, specs, and ROI.
