Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage seeks an Engineering Lead to supervise a design team responsible for plans and contract documents for street, drainage, site, and water quality projects in the city. The role requires coordinating schedules, reviews of plans and permits, and responding to public inquiries.

Applicants must have a Civil Engineering degree and a PE license in Alaska (or obtain within 6 months). Driving record must be acceptable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
• Master’s degree may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
• Registered as a professional engineer in the State of Alaska or ability to obtain registration within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a design team in the design and preparation of plans, and construction contract documents for municipal street, drainage, site, and water quality projects.
• Develop project schedules and manage staff schedules and workloads to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
• Oversee the review of plans, permits and public hearing information with regard to road, drainage, and water quality concerns.
• Prepare appropriate responses and investigate and respond to road and drainage related inquiries and complaints.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field

Master’s degree may substitute for experience

Five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience

Valid Alaska Driver's License and clean driving record

Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Alaska or ability to obtain within 6 months
