Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Assistant Engineer aboard our casino vessel to ensure safe, reliable operation of machinery, electrical systems, life-safety, and related equipment.

Under the Engineer in Charge, you will assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, and documentation, coordinate with watch engineers and contractors, and support regulatory compliance to keep guests comfortable and operations uninterrupted.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; maritime/technical training preferred.
• 3+ years in marine engineering, vessel maintenance, power generation, or related field.
• Experience aboard casino vessel or similar industrial facility preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel generators, electrical distribution, pumps, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and safety documents.
• Must meet gaming/safety credentials and be able to obtain designated certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineer in Charge with operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of vessel machinery and supporting systems.
• Monitor shore power, generators, electrical switchgear, pumps, motors, HVAC, plumbing, fuel, lubricating oil, bilge, sewage, fire protection, and alarms.
• Maintain accurate logs, inspections, work orders, equipment histories, parts usage, and regulatory documentation.
• Coordinate engineering work with Captain of the Watch to protect guests and vessel systems.
• Supervise watch engineers, technicians, contractors, and vendors; ensure safe completion of work.
• Support inspections, surveys, and testing by authorities.
• Follow safety procedures and assist with inventory, purchasing, and project planning.
