Salary Range: $100,000.00 To $115,000.00 Annually
Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off
Job Description:
The Engineering Lab Technician provides hands‑on support for electronics fabrication, integration, and testing activities across engineering projects. This role also plays a key part in establishing and maintaining a new electronics lab, including equipment setup, workflow organization, safety processes, and daily lab upkeep. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in electronics assembly, and comfortable working closely with engineers in a fast-paced development environment.
Essential Functions:
Electronics Fabrication & Assembly
- Perform electronics assembly tasks including soldering (surface mount and through‑hole), harness fabrication, cable assembly, and wiring.
- Build, modify, and maintain engineering test racks, fixtures, and prototype electronics hardware.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
- Ensure all electrical assemblies meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
Integration & Test Support
- Support integration and test activities for prototype electronics, controllers, and instrumentation.
- Operate and maintain electronics test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, multimeters, and signal generators.
- Assist engineers with debugging and troubleshooting during system testing.
- Document test setups, configurations, and results as required.
Electronics Lab Setup & Administration
- Assist in establishing a new electronics lab, including layout planning, equipment setup, and workflow organization.
- Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and readiness for engineering activities.
- Inventory and track lab equipment, manage assets, and oversee calibration schedules.
- Develop and maintain safety processes, lab procedures, and best practices to ensure personnel safety and compliance.
- Perform general lab maintenance including tool control, equipment upkeep, calibration management, and consumables replenishment.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Proficiency in soldering for circuit card assembly, including fine-pitch surface-mount and through‑hole components.
- Experience with harness fabrication, cable assembly, and construction of test racks or fixtures.
- Familiarity with electronics test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift and manipulate lab equipment, tools, and test fixtures as needed.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience establishing or managing engineering labs or technical workspaces.
- Knowledge of ESD control, safe electronics handling, and industry‑standard safety practices.
- Experience working in aerospace, defense, or other regulated engineering environments.
- Experience developing or maintaining lab procedures, inventory systems, or calibration programs.
- Certification to IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001
