Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time Instructor of the Practice in Engineering Labs beginning Spring Semester 2027.

The role focuses on immersive lab experiences, UTXplore projects, and equipment training within the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology. The position includes teaching 30 credits per year, maintaining labs, ensuring safety compliance, providing prototyping guidance, advising students, and participating in committee and service

Qualifications

• M.S. in an engineering discipline, or related field; candidates with a B.S. degree and relevant work experience will be considered.
• Relevant industry experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with engineering lab equipment (machining, controllers, testing) is preferred.
• Strong prototyping background is preferred.
• Prior teaching experience in engineering or related courses is preferred.
• Strong commitment to teaching excellence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with teamwork.
• Interest in active and experiential learning is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach 30 credits of laboratory and/or lecture courses in the Engineering Department each academic year.
• Maintain labs and lab equipment within the Engineering Department.
• Ensure engineering labs are compliant with university, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Provide prototyping guidance to students in UTXplore, capstone, design practicum, and research projects.
• Attend department, college, and division meetings; collaborate with faculty on program management and adhere to university policy.
• Perform campus-wide duties, including advising students and contributing to university service and scholarship.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
